The Aims of the Magistrates Association



The charitable objects for which the Association is established and incorporated are to educate and instruct magistrates in the law, and administration of justice the treatment of offenders and the best method of preventing crime so as to help them perform their public duties in the most competent an efficient manner and to that end (but not otherwise) to issue publications. Promote conferences and keep magistrates well informed of developments in the law and administration of justice and take part in discussions on such subjects.



The Association Aims to Advance the Interest of the Lay Magistracy and Serve its Members


Addressing issues which affect magisterial practice.

Consulting members on such issues as they arise.

Communicating policy decisions to members.

Representing members views and safeguarding their interests.

Providing opportunities for education and training.

Offering information advice and support to individual members.

Encourage the development of a sense of common purpose.
